STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO – Colorado Springs band Tejon Street Corner Thieves are traveling down I-70 and crossing over the pass to play in Steamboat Springs for the first time at the renowned WinterWonderGrass Festival, scheduled for February 25-27 at Steamboat Resort.

The outlaw duo of Connor O’Neal and Shawn D’Amario met in Colorado Springs in 2013, and a few fishing trips and several whiskey drinks later, formed the band in which they’ve been playing music together ever since. The two started out their musical partnership in an unconventional way, meeting at Tejon Street in Colorado Springs to play music with hopes to raise enough money for a couple of beers at the end of the day. They eventually named themselves the Tejon Street Corner Thieves.

Known for their rambunctious live performances and rowdy on-stage shenanigans, this internationally touring act has swiftly gained recognition over the last several years and have been making a name for themselves across the Front Range.

While COVID-19 upended the music industry, canceling tours and live acts, the Thieves got creative and rigged their bus in order to travel around town and play music for people. “We put our PA in a bus and drove around to people’s houses and played for them. It was a really big hit. It got really popular; we were getting hundreds of emails from people asking us to come play for them, so we had to plan out our daily route and figure out what zip code we were going to play that day,” D’Amario says.

The community outreach the traveling Thieves had during such difficult times was uplifting for the bandmates. Continuing their success throughout the pandemic, Tejon Street Corner Thieves was recently signed by Liar’s Club Records, a new label founded by Amigo the Devil in partnership with Regime Music Group, and have a new album, “Thick as Thieves,” coming out in March 2022.

The punk-edge bluegrass duo finished a short tour run in November with Amigo the Devil and is eager to continue performing in 2022. The Thieves have evolved over the years but still stay true to their whiskey roots and outlaw blues. “You know, as we have grown and gotten older, so has our songwriting and our lyricism,” D’Amario says. But not to worry, the Colorado natives plan to bring the full-blown rowdiness and punk energy to the WinterWonderGrass stage this February.

“We think it’s a dream come true,” says O’Neal about playing their first WinterWonderGrass Festival. “Usually our winters are pretty slow, and to be able to play for a whole new crowd in a whole new place, and especially on a monumental occasion like a 10-year anniversary is such an honor for us, and we can’t wait to see what WWG is all about.”
