STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO – “A lot of awesome things are on the horizon for 2022,” says Julie Gussaroff, upright bass player for The Sweet Lillies. The string-band trio of Gussaroff (upright bass), Becca Bisque (violin) and Dustin Rohleder (acoustic guitar) make up the soulful, folk, and hip-hop fusion sound of the Sweet Lillies.

Based out of Boulder, Colorado, the Sweet Lillies have been playing together as a trio since 2018, and released their newest album, Common Ground, in June 2021. Recorded in Denver and produced by Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth, Common Ground leads you through a musical journey and the Sweet Lillies stay true to their roots of heartfelt strings and beautiful ballads with distinctive hints of rap and hip-hop.

On top of putting out another album in 2022, the Sweet Lillies are hitting the road and touring full-time, playing several shows and festivals in the western U.S. – with a stop in Steamboat Springs – and are hopeful to be back at it as much as possible this year. The Sweet Lillies are slated to return to the Yampa Valley in February, playing their second WinterWonderGrass festival at Steamboat Resort.

“It’s truly an exhilarating experience,” Gussaroff says of playing outside on the stage in the Knoll Lot at Steamboat Resort. “The culture in Steamboat Springs is something else – the joyful nature of the people that live there, and the camaraderie and friendliness between the community is really striking and fun to be around.”

That culture translates into WinterWonderGrass festival weekend, with a community of locals, artists, friends and loved ones coming together to create deep and lasting relationships. “Scotty Stoughton (founder of WinterWonderGrass) brings this spiritual vibration, this feeling of being part of a family, and it’s really something special,” Gussaroff says.

“We’re just thrilled to be a part of WinterWonderGrass and we can’t wait to get back to Steamboat and play with you all.”
