During the Steamboat Art Museum’s 2019 Plein Air Event, SAM will host award winning featured artist and event judge Dave Santillanes, as he discusses the adventures and inspirations of his career. Learn about the impact and influence of plein air painting on his studio work. As Dave says, “As outdoor painters, I think that’s what we’re really searching for – Truth. That direct observation leads to a more precise rendering of color, light and atmosphere. And there’s a spiritual truth…that immersing yourself in a landscape for two hours while painting leads to an intimacy with the scene that you wouldn’t have otherwise.” All are welcome to attend this insightful evening. $10 donation suggested.
