The Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo is a staple of summer in the Yampa Valley, combining Western tradition with a full evening of entertainment for all ages.

Start by buying a ticket: They should be purchased through the official rodeo website or authorized sellers (like F.M. Light & Sons) to ensure availability and avoid inflated resale prices.

Seating options vary. The Gold Buckle section provides the closest view and is the only assigned seating, located directly above the bucking chutes. These tickets are ideal for those who want a reserved seat and a close-up perspective of the action. Covered and uncovered grandstand seating is general admission. Covered seats offer protection from weather and tend to sell out quickly, while uncovered seating provides more flexibility, but are farther away from the action. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and guests with general admission tickets should plan to arrive by
6:30-6:45 p.m. for the best seat selection.

Dinner is available on-site, with barbecue as the main offering alongside burgers and hot dogs, funnel cakes, ice cream treats and drinks, including alcoholic beverages. Food and drink vendors are open throughout the evening, making it easy to eat before the action starts or snack during the rodeo.

Live country music begins prior to the main event, which typically starts around 7:30 p.m., with the grand entry of riders, horses and the presentation of flags.

The rodeo features traditional events including bull riding, barrel racing, team roping and bronc riding. Rodeo clowns provide entertainment between events, while also assisting with safety in the arena. Kids will enjoy the calf and ram scramble, during which they can enter the arena to chase a calf or ram (depending on age) with a flag attached. The first child to grab the flag wins. Pro tip: close-toed shoes are encouraged. It is also smart to bring extra layers, as the temperature drops after sunset.

Watch the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo every Friday and Saturday night from Friday, June 19, through Saturday, Aug. 29, from 5:30-9:30 p.m., with an additional rodeo on Thursday, July 2. For more information and tickets, visit www.steamboatprorodeo.com.
