Notice anything different on the west side of town? It’s Sherpa Spice, Steamboat’s newest dining destination, which brings the bold, comforting flavors of the Himalayas to the heart of the Rocky Mountains.

Ski Town Media tried it out and found some favorites: the top contender was the shrimp tandoori with an extra side of chutney. The butter chicken was also a hit, and we recommend not skipping out on the cheesy garlic naan.

The restaurant, inspired by the warmth and hospitality of Himalayan culture, was started by Narayan Rimjali, a restaurateur who owns two other spots – one in Brighton and one in Denver. The menu showcases traditional recipes prepared with fresh ingredients, bold spices and slow-cooked authenticity. Each dish reflects generations of culinary tradition, from delicate, hand-folded momos served with house-made sauces, to deeply flavorful curries simmered with aromatic spices, tender meats and seasonal vegetables.

The menu also features hearty lentil stews, fragrant rice dishes and freshly baked breads (again, that cheesy garlic naan!)  pulled straight from the tandoor – perfect for scooping, sharing and savoring. Vegetarian and vegan options play a central role, highlighting the vibrant produce and spice-forward cooking that define Himalayan cuisine. Every plate is thoughtfully prepared to be both nourishing and satisfying, offering comfort after a day in the mountains while inviting guests to explore something new.
