Sneak Peek! It's Time for Holidays in the Rockies
12/05/2024 09:32PM ● By Madison MohnThe annual “Holidays in the Rockies” event kicks off this weekend and runs for the first three Saturdays in December (Dec. 7, 14 and 21). Head to the Depot Art Center to wander the holiday market filled with over 20 artisan vendors. Shop for handmade art and holiday gifts, enjoy food and drinks, live music and even a special appearance by Santa. From snow globes to hot sauces, each vendor at the market puts their own spin on holiday gifts this season. Below, we highlight four of this year’s vendors.
Laura Tamucci of Gracie Stitches sells cozy, handmade blankets. From soft baby blankets to warm quilts, they're the perfect thing to snuggle up with this winter. She'll also be selling cloth napkins and zippered pouches. "I will have all my best-selling baby blanket prints," Laura says. "I'm most excited about a limited run of holiday prints...I have penguins on skis, hot cocoa mugs and retro Santas." We asked Laura to share a fun holiday tradition that she does every year. "I made an advent calendar for our kids, Anthony (11) and Dylan (7)," she says. "They get a small gift every day in December."
Paula Jo Jaconetta of Lupita’s Cantina will be selling spicy hot sauces and margarita mix. Some of her favorite hot sauces? "Routt's Rosemary, Adobe Sweet Onion and The Divorce is Final," she says. After living in Mexico when her children were young, their family's holiday traditions have changed over the years. "We do love to go into the National Forest after Thanksgiving and cut down our Christmas tree," she says. "We also love, love, love to make Christmas cut-out cookies together."
Erin Davis will be selling Howelsen Hill snow globes. They're hand-painted and custom-designed with tiny replicas of the iconic Howelsen Hill inside. "I grew up ski racing in the SSWSC and at Howelsen, and now my kids are growing up skiing there," Erin says. "For so many, it is such a special place and is truly the heart of our community. As a love letter to Howelsen and Steamboat, I had custom snow globes made. Now everyone can have a piece of the magic, even when they're away."
Jeremy Nosbush of MatchBox Candle Co. will sell handmade soy wax candles and melts that are made in his downtown Steamboat store. His fave? The Colorado Blue Spruce, which is a top seller.
