Steamboat Springs, CO - Steamboat Art Museum's 7th annual "The Painted Words" event took place on Thursday, August 1, 2024 in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs in front of a packed house of writers, judges and creative writing enthusiasts. 

Writers in this competition submitted work in prose or poetry inspired by SAM’s current exhibition, We Set Our Faces Westward, One Woman’s Journey 1839 – 1848. Entires were read aloud by local Steamboat Springs "celebrities" and winning entries received prizes from SAM, Ski Town Media and Off the Beaten Path, who sponsored this event.
