Welcome to Steamboat Springs | A Welcome Message from Steamboat Springs Chamber CEO, Sarah Leonard

From the Steamboat Springs Visitors' Guide Summer 2023.

After an epic winter, the snow is melting, the valley is green and the Yampa River is flowing. Welcome to summer in Steamboat Springs! If you’re a hiker, mountain biker, kayaker, fly fisher or someone who just wants to get away, the Yampa Valley offers much to do this season.

Whether it’s your first time or you’re a seasoned visitor, we hope this issue of the Steamboat Springs Visitors’ Guide helps you learn more about our historic mountain community and the ways you can enjoy it.

One of the best ways to explore the Yampa Valley in the summer is to get outside. Not only is the weather beautiful, but the activities are abundant. Here you’ll find a large network of hiking and biking trails, river and reservoir access, and captivating views of wide-open spaces.

When you get hungry or thirsty after all the activity, it’s time to explore our diverse culinary offerings, which include everything from burger bars and breweries to fine-dining steakhouses and some of the best happy hours you can find anywhere.

You won’t see many big retailers here in Steamboat. Instead, visit our family-run businesses, stroll through the Farmers Market, or get to know your barista.

Steamboat is more than spectacular scenery and outdoor adventure. We take pride in our thriving arts and culture scene. As a certified Creative District, Steamboat is officially recognized as a hub for creativity.

Our Western roots run deep. From the Utes through the fur trappers, to our agricultural and ranching communities, our heritage is what defines us. You can learn all about our Western spirit by visiting one of our many galleries or museums.

As a community, we work to preserve the beauty of the Yampa Valley so it can be enjoyed for generations to come. When you’re out and about, please follow “Leave No Trace” principles, give wildlife their space, and embody the Western spirit of hospitality and kindness. After all, kindness floats the boat!

The Steamboat Springs Chamber is excited to welcome you to our home in the vibrant Yampa Valley. We hope you treasure your time here as much as we do.
