STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO – Making it into the elite echelon of international competitor takes talent, encouragement, resources and more than a little determination. Meet Steamboat's latest contenders for the title of champion.

Jasper Good, 25

Nordic Combined, Trained with Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club

What would it mean to compete in your 2nd Olympics?

It would mean an incredible amount to me – representing the U.S. Army, my home town and the United States as a whole is such an honor. This will be the first Olympics where I will have the opportunity to represent the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program. They have given me a tremendous amount of support, discipline and ability to focus on what is needed to succeed. I am honored to be representing this military unit.

What’s your favorite part about Nordic Combined?

The feeling of flying is unreal, and hard to put words to. I love it.

Who are your role models and why?

I have been able to develop relationships with mentors who I have a tremendous amount of respect for, including Billy Demong, Donna Weinbrecht, Jonny Moseley, Jeff Good, John Kelley, Mike Simpson and Warren Huff. They all have an incredible work ethic and discipline to be successful in their chosen fields.

When did you decide to dedicate yourself to becoming an elite level athlete?

It was when I took a gap year after high school, and put all my time and effort into making the U.S. National Team that year. Upon accomplishing that goal I never looked back.

Favorite activities off the slopes?

Mountain biking, travel, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

What do you see yourself doing after you retire from competing?

I plan to pursue my career in the Army National Guard.
