Popular Halloween Stroll Returns to Downtown

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO – Don’t get tricked this Halloween when the
annual Halloween Stroll returns to downtown Steamboat Springs and Lincoln Avenue (US40) closes
for the annual community holiday stroll on Sunday, October 31.
The Lincoln Avenue closures will start to go into effect as early as 4:45p.m. on Sunday, October 31 and run through approximately 8:00p.m. that evening. During this time, traffic will be detoured along Oak Street from 5th to 11th Streets. At the conclusion of the Halloween stroll, Lincoln Avenue will reopen as soon as safely possible.
While Lincoln Avenue is closed, buses will use the Oak Street detour with temporary stops at 5th and Oak, 7th and Oak and 9th and Oak. Buses will also stop at the Yellow Line’s 10th and Oak stop, next to City Hall. Once Lincoln reopens, buses will return to their normal routes. Masks are required to ride the SST and Halloween costume masks do not meet federal regulations.
Downtown parking is available on side streets, in several public parking lots as well as at the Howelsen Hill Rodeo Arena, Ski Area and the Stockbridge Transit Center. Please respect residential access and do not block driveways.
Due to the high volume of pedestrians including many children, please be patient, alert, and observe detours and closures. As it gets dark, motorists have a harder time seeing you, so be visible. In general, bring a flash light or headlamp, wear reflective gear, use caution in crosswalks and do not dart across streets/alleys, eliminate distractions such as earbuds, texting and cellphones, and assume you can’t be seen by others. In addition, bikers should use front and back lights and always wear a helmet. Halloween is scary for the friendliest of pets; please leave your four-legged companions at home while you roam the costumed crowd.
For more than three decades, families, friends and businesses have celebrated Halloween in historic downtown Steamboat Springs by trick-or-treating down six-blocks of Lincoln Avenue where businesses open their doors with plenty of treats for children. The downtown stroll festivities run from 5:00p.m. to 7:30p.m.
