STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO – The City of Steamboat Springs is preparing for the return of festivities surrounding the July 4th holiday and the 118th Annual Cowboys’ Roundup Days which will result in closing several roads to accommodate these special events.

As a reminder, the evening night fireworks show has been canceled due to Fire Restrictions (currently at Stage 2 – NO FIREWORKS) as well as budget impacts from the pandemic. The following outlines the anticipated closures for the July 4 holiday.

Farmers Market – July 3

Street Closed from 6AM to 3PM – Yampa Street between 5th to 8th Streets

Yampa Street between 5th and 8th, 7th Street from Lincoln to Yampa and the 7th Street parking lot will be closed on Saturday, July 3 from 6am to between 3-5pm for the Farmers Market. The actual market runs from 9am to 2pm. Stop by the City Council booth from 9am to noon and let councilors know what’s on your mind this holiday weekend.  www.mainstreetsteamboat.com

Return of the Rodeo – July 1, 2, 3, 4

Increased Pedestrian Activity & NO PARKING along Howelsen Parkway

The Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo makes it triumphant return this summer with four nights of western action over the July 4th weekend. The cowboys and cowgirls bust out of the chutes each night at 7:30pm. Spectator should walk, bike or ride the free SST and those driving should anticipate increased pedestrian activity around the 5th Street Bridge and adjacent Howelsen Parkway. LINCOLN AVENUE & YAMPA STREET – PARADE, July 4

Lincoln & Yampa Street Closed from 6:30AM to 2PM

Lincoln Avenue and side streets between 5th and 11th Streets and Yampa Street between 5th and 11th Streets will be closed from 6:30AM to around 2PM. The city encourages people to walk, bike or take the free SST bus (masks still required), which will see additional buses running before the parade. If driving, additional parking is available at the Steamboat Springs High School or at the Stockbridge Transit Center. The Nordic Combined Roller Ski Race busts out of the starting gate at 9am, followed by the parade at 10AM. Alternative plans should www.steamboatchamber.com

8th STREET – PANCAKE BREAKFAST, July 4

Closed from 7AM to 2:00PM – 8th Street between Lincoln to Oak

Starting at 6AM, 8th Street between Lincoln and Oak will be closed for the annual Ski Town Lions Club Pancake Breakfast.  Starting at 7am, the club will be serving up hot cakes, bacon, coffee and beverages to get the morning off to an explosive start for $10/adults and $7/for veterans and kids under 12. You’ll be fueled and ready to go the entire day after this traditional breakfast home cooked meal.

JUMPING & JAMMING, Howelsen Hill, July 4

Increased Pedestrian Activity & NO PARKING along Howelsen Parkway

Watch Steamboat’s and the nation’s best Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined athletes as they soar up to 225 feet over the crowd off the summer ski jumps! This is your chance to watch 2022 Winter Olympic hopefuls right in the Yampa Valley!  Be sure to bring a chair or blanket and a shade umbrella to claim your spot on the grass! The Elimination Jump Competition starts at 11am on the 4th of July, right after the parade! You can also check out the ski jumping competition on July 3rd. www.sswsc.org

Limited Parking Impacts – Community Center

The state’s mobile COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic bus will be in Steamboat Springs for the Independence Day holiday. If you haven’t received a shot, celebrate your independence by getting vaccinated and you’ll be on your way to helping make Colorado stronger. The bus will be at the Rodeo on Saturday and Community Center on Sunday.  

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS TRANSIT SERVICE – July 4

SST will operate additional service during the parade on Sunday. These extra buses will run during normal operating hours to provide extra capacity and help move people to and from the events. Masks are still required to ride Steamboat’s Free Bus & All Public Transportation.  

While Lincoln Avenue is closed, buses will use the Oak Street detour. Temporary stops along Oak will be located at 5th, 7th and 9th. Buses will also stop at the Yellow Line’s 10th and Oak stop, next to City Hall. Once Lincoln reopens, buses will return to their normal routes. Between 6:40am and 8pm buses are scheduled to depart the Stockbridge Center every 20 minutes. SST locations and times can be found at steamboatsprings.net/transit or by calling 970.879.3717.

PARKING & ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

Downtown parking is on-street, in several parking lots as well as at the Steamboat Springs High School and the Stockbridge Transit Center. Please respect residential access and do not block driveways. It is highly recommended that people walk, bike, take the free SST bus or utilize drop off/pick up locations at the west end of Yampa and Oak Streets to access events.

Due to the high volume of spectators, please be patient, alert and follow CSO directions. Alternative routes such as River Road as well as Fish Creek Falls to Steamboat Blvd are recommended but please adhere to residential speed limits (25mph unless posted otherwise). It is the city’s goal to get everyone on their way quickly and safely.
