STEAMBOAT SPRINGS- Samantha DeDe is a Steamboat Springs yoga instructor who has been teaching yoga for two years.

What got you into practicing yoga?

I first started for the asana and the physical challenge it brings, and I ended up loving it for much more than that. It keeps me present, mindful, and mentally and physically healthy.

Any advice for beginner yogis?

Learn to love where your body is physically at that moment. It can change from day to day. Use your breath to hone-in on your body’s inner vitality and innate knowing.

Do you have a favorite yoga pose?

I love working on my handstands right now. Camel pose is another favorite.

What other hobbies do you have?

I enjoy camping, hiking and snowboarding.

Where can you be found during winter other than at the yoga studio?

I can be found at the Steamboat Ski Area snowboarding, soaking in the Strawberry Park or Old Town hot springs or getting cozy in front of a fire.

Do you have a favorite run on the mountain?

My favorite is Buddy’s Run.

Do you have any favorite spots to grab a drink or a bite to
eat in town?

My new favorite spot to eat and drink is Yampa Valley Kitchen. Their matcha mint gin and tonic is super refreshing and their Monte Cristo is to die for.
