STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – It’s common knowledge that if the kids are happy, the parents are happy. Bésame, located on main street in Steamboat, manages to fit the preferences of both groups.
Too often parents struggle to find an upscale dining environment that appeases their palette while keeping the little ones happy with simpler options. Bésame has solved that puzzle.
From simple to complex, this Latin-fusion inspired restaurant has something for everyone, from foodies to the pickiest of eaters. The kids’ meals come in the form of bento boxes. Quesadillas, tacos, steak, grilled chicken, gluten-free chicken tenders and mac & cheese are all options found on the kid’s menu. Wondering how this differs from other establishments? We’re talking sides. Each bento box is full to the brim with options – jasmine rice, papas fritas, apple sauce, veggie sticks, a fountain drink and a toy come with every box.
“I love everything about Bésame. It’s a really nice place, but I can still be myself there and nice people work there,” says 9-year-old MacGray Petty. “My favorite thing to eat is the pork tacos. They also have great potatoes.”
“We wanted to do something that is approachable for the kids, but super fun and a good value,” says Bésame owner Hannah Hopkins.
Kids love ordering off the full menu as well. The ancho-chili glazed baby back ribs, elotes, duck wings, Cuban grilled bread, patas bravas and croquettes de jamon are favorites amongst youngsters.
Virgin mojitos are another exciting option for children.
Blackberry, strawberry, passionfruit, guava and seasonal virgin mojitos not only spark joy but look as good as they taste.
Bésame is family-friendly restaurant for the adventurous and non-adventurous eaters. Kids 12-and-under eat free before 6 o’clock, and for every adult entrée purchased, patrons will receive one free kids’ meal. Offer valid until Sunday, Dec. 1.
