A Twist on Pizza and a Soda
08/02/2019 01:24PM ● By Alesha DamervilleSTEAMBOAT SPRINGS – Picture an icy rush of raspberry and cream hitting the back of your throat as you break between savory bites of pizza. Summer feels its strongest while enjoying the welcoming patio and the delicious and ever-changing fare offered at Mambo Italiano.
Italian sodas are a new feature at Mambo’s this summer, with the choice of peach, orange or raspberry. “We have so much fun behind the bar with our cocktails, and we wanted to try something fun for the non-alcohol drinkers,” says Laura Posiak, general manager for Mambo’s, on main street in Steamboat. “This is something you definitely find in different areas of Italy.”
Italian syrup, cream and club soda, topped with whipped cream and a rock candy stick, are the simple components that make up this extremely tasty beverage. It pairs perfectly with any of the thoughtfully made pies that have been deemed by many as the best in town.
The Peach and Jalapeño pizza is loaded up with chicken, prosciutto, ricotta, mozzarella, garlic, oil and basil. “I’m most drawn to the Peach and Jalapeño pizza,” Posiak says. “It’s an awesome, summery, refreshing pizza with a hint of sweet spice – the prosciutto puts it over the edge.”
A lot of love goes into these pies. They stay consistent, using the same dough recipe for years with the goal of creating the perfect pizza every time.
From traditional to eclectic, the pizza menu has something to offer all food lovers.
The Margherita pizza is made with the simplest ingredients, but done well. The more complex pizzas, such as the Fig and Gorgonzola, were created to impress. Sweet, salty, cheesy and nutty flavors – with a kick from arugula – dance across your taste buds when you eat this beautifully constructed pizza that could easily be mistaken for a piece of art. “This is a fan favorite. The people who love the Fig and Gorgonzola really love it and order it every time,” Posiak says.
Mambo’s is a Steamboat pizza-party staple for locals and visitors alike. Pizzas are offered for half-off during their daily happy hour from 4-5:30 p.m. To learn more, visit www.mambos.com
