STEAMBOAT SPRINGS- Producer, composer and lyricist Neil Berg has dedicated his life to Broadway. His passion shines through in his production, “Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway,” a Broadway show has been touring nationally for nearly 15 years. A holiday version of Berg’s show, “Neil Berg’s Broadway Holiday,” comes to Steamboat Springs this week.

“’Broadway Holiday’ is an extension of the ‘100 Years of Broadway’ tour,” Berg says. “We do a specialized show during the holidays. In the first act, we have five incredible Broadway stars from the most famous shows on Broadway performing their big numbers, Broadway hit songs. In the second act, our stars choose a couple of their favorite holiday songs to perform, hence the name ‘Broadway Holiday.’ It’s a combination of both.”

“It’s not just singers coming to sing some Broadway and holiday tunes; that would be too easy,” Berg says. “These performers are the crème de la crème, the top performers in Broadway. All of them starred in one or two of the most famous shows on Broadway: ‘Phantom of the Opera,’ ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘Cats,’ ‘Les Miserables,’ ‘Fiddler on the Roof,’ ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and ‘Rent.’”

Berg spends a large amount of his time on tour. “The great thing about touring is we’ve been able to see so much, every nook and cranny of our country,” he says. “We get to bring great Broadway to people who don’t have easy access to come to New York and see Broadway.  We’ve played everywhere in Colorado – my love for Colorado knows no bounds. It doesn’t matter where you go; the people are just wonderful.”

This is a show for all ages. You can experience “Neil Berg’s Broadway Holiday” Thursday, December 28 at the Strings Music Festival.
