Spring Blossoms with Springalicious

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-March 31, 2014-Incredible Colorado bluebird sunny days, hilarious and fun events, along with a boatload of Champagne Powder® snow (27.75 feet at mid-mtn and counting), mean that spring will shine a whole lot brighter in Steamboat-Ski Town, U.S.A. ® during the Springalicious Festival.

“Steamboat has always been known for its legendary Champagne Powder® snow, perfectly placed trees and friendly western heritage, but people sometimes forget that nobody knows how to throw a spring celebration like the ‘Boat,” said Rob Perlman, senior vice president of sales and marketing. “Innovative spring passes, complemented by a variety of specials and fun events, allow guests to check their cares at the door and enjoy time with friends and family.”

Surf’s up when two new events drop into the Springalicious line up with the Fire & Pow Luau and Toes on the Nose Surf Jam both on Sunday, April 6th.  Fire up a little Polynesian flare during the Fire & Pow Luau featuring a scrumptious Polynesian pig roast, specialty drinks and entertainment by Polynesian dancers and fire performers. Later that day, bust out your sunscreen and show your surf style on the biggest wave in Steamboat during the Toes on the Nose Surf Jam. The Luau goes from 12-5pm with the dance and fire performers hitting the stage at 3pm. The Surf Jam rides into Lil’ Rodeo Terrain Park at 2pm.

The 6th Annual Cody’s Challenge returns on Saturday, April 5th, daring competitors to a heart-pounding randonee race across the mountain. The Cardboard Classic, Steamboat’s traditional rite of spring, and the Splashdown Pond Skimming competition act as the cornerstone events for Springalicious. The Cardboard Classic celebrates its 34th year on April 12th, featuring homemade cardboard crafts racing to a hysterical finish. Steamboat’s bravest (and maybe craziest) liquid thrill seekers attempt to cross an ice-cold pond during the 7th Splashdown Pond Skim on Closing Day, Sunday, April 13th

Currently, two special spring passes, Springalicious and April Double Dip, are available. Springalicious provides three-days of skiing/riding in April at Steamboat. The April Double Dip Pass brings together unlimited skiing and riding at both Steamboat and Winter Park during April. Limited quantities of both passes are available and rates increase as spring approaches.

Live music is a constant staple of Ski Town, U.S.A.® and spring will be no exception as the Bud Light Rocks the Boat Free Concert Series rolls into its April swing with Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds (4/5), MarchFourth Marching Band (4/12),  and a blow-out end-of-season show on closing day (4/13) with G. Love & Special Sauce. For a complete schedule, see www.steamboat.com/concerts

“As the season heads into April, with longer and brighter days, be responsible for your actions and understand the consequences they may cause,” stressed John Kohnke, patrol director for Steamboat. “The resort’s mantra remains Respect the Sport, Respect Each Other.  Let’s work together to ensure the remaining weeks of the season are fun and safe; and, remember to be respectful and responsible for your actions and behaviors.”
