Steamboat Springs, CO-
Q. What are some of your favorite runs in Steamboat?
A. Twister. It has a great fall line
and gets really good lighting during the day. I also like the occasional cruise
down Vagabond, and if I’m feeling risky I’ll try Why Not.
Q. When did you realize you wanted to make a career out of
skiing?
A. I have always had a love for
skiing and knew I wanted to continue to pursue it whether I was able to make a
career out of it or not. Fortunately, it turns out I’m pretty good at it.
Q. What does a typical day of training look like for you?
A. A few hours of skiing followed by
about an hour of physical conditioning. Life’s not so bad.
Q. What’s your favorite thing about freestyle skiing?
A. The dynamic it has in combining
both jumping and skiing. This allows me to train for the sport and never get
bored of doing the same thing over and over.
Q. If you weren’t a professional athlete, what would you want
to be?
A. Ha…I guess I would be a
non-professional athlete.
Q. How do you like to celebrate a victory?
A. I give myself a pat on the back
then start thinking about what’s next.
Q. Who would play you in a movie?
A. That’s hard to say, but I like to
think it would be someone handsome, incredibly strong, and maybe even have a
super power.
Q. What’s your favorite vacation destination?
A. Honestly, we travel so much that
I would have to say my favorite vacation destination is whenever I’m home. For
that reason, Steamboat Springs is my favorite vacation destination. Though if
you ever get a chance to go to Zermatt, Switzerland, it’s pretty awesome.
Q. What’s your favorite concert venue?
A. Red Rocks. I went and saw Mumford
& Sons play there last year and it was absolutely incredible.
Q. What’s your favorite genre of music?
A. Honestly, I can listen to almost
all types of music. When I ski, I like to listen to electronic music to get me
in the right frame of mind. I’m also a big Taylor Swift fan, so I guess that
says a lot about my taste in music.
