Photographer Profile: Deb Olsen
● By Christina Freeman
Deborah Olsen earned a degree in journalism from the University of New Mexico and, as we like to say, "knows the business." She has spent time as a reporter, photo editor, professor and publisher. Her work has been awarded by the Associated Press and the Colorado Press Association. The latter gave her a "Best News Photo in Colorado" award during her coverage of the 1994 Good News Building explosion. But Deb says she is most proud of winning the Ski Association's "White Stag Award" for ski journalism.
Deb has been with Steamboat Magazine since 1993, and the owner of Ski Town Publications Inc. since 2004. She has also authored Steamboat Springs Legends: A Centennial Collection. Deb has skied an estimated 1,000 days on Mount Werner and has still managed to visit 50 countries. Throughout her travels, she has found no better place to come home to than Steamboat Springs.
