Barb Shipley would say that she has lived in Paradise, aka Steamboat Springs, Colorado for over 40 years and isn’t really a local yet, but she hopes to be one day. Nicknamed “The Mayor” years ago by her friends for her local knowledge of Steamboat and her “never met a stranger” personality, Barb is known for her strong work ethic and her outgoing, gregarious and fun-loving nature.

Barb started her career in the ski business as one of the first Ski Ambassadors for the Steamboat Ski Company in 1974 and has never looked back. With Steamboat’s ranching heritage, world class skiing and above all Western hospitality, it was the perfect mountain town for Barb to call home.

After years of promoting the Steamboat Ski Resort, Barb and her husband John (the voice of the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo) opened and operated a small personalized property management company specializing in ski-in/ski-out accommodations. Her knowledge of the resort rental market has provided a platform for Barb to assist many property owners and guests with navigating the Steamboat Springs real estate market. Priding herself on knowing a great deal about the “who, what, and used-to-be” of the properties, developers, characters and local history, Barb is able to offer a true “local” perspective to her real estate clients. Because Barb has based her life and her business on a strong foundation of building relationships, her clients benefit from the value of her local knowledge, her history with the resort and her ability to work with anyone in town, overcoming obstacles and hurdles, to deliver results.

Barb continues to exemplify the Code of the West, as her passion for hand-shake integrity carries over into this Technological Age. She is more than happy to share her contacts and experiences with her clients, and to utilize the relationships that she has built over the years, to assist her clients in pursuing their dream of being Steamboat property owners.
