Steamboat Springs, CO -
After laborious hours preparing the perfect turkey, seasoning the stuffing, and experimenting with the ratio of sweetness in the cranberries, it can be easy to feel cooped up at home. Get out of the house and celebrate Thanksgiving with the whole Steamboat Springs community during these local events.

1) Turkey Trot
On Thanksgiving morning, walk, run or trot as the community comes together for a Thanksgiving themed 5K (adult entries are $25). The race starts at 9:30 a.m. at Steamboat Springs High School; all proceeds benefit their running programs.

2) United Way Community Dinner
Also on Thanksgiving day, United Way will host a free dinner at the Community Center just west of downtown (1605 Lincoln Ave.). Over 600 hungry people are expected to attend the traditional turkey dinner, served from 1-5 p.m.

3) Steamboat Light Up the Night
Join in the fun on Friday, Nov. 24 from 6-6:30 p.m., sipping on hot cocoa and counting down as the Courthouse lawn’s tree lights are turned on, illuminating the night and marking the start of the holiday season.
