How to Prepare Your Home for Winter

Steamboat Springs, CO - The first snow blows in the much-anticipated ski season, but as homeowners look forward to the winter excitement, it can be easy to forget the simple household tasks that will properly prepare your house for winter. Here are ten tasks you should be doing to avoid winter catastrophes so you can have fun on the slopes instead. 

1) Clean out your chimney
2) Refill your propane supplies
3) Blow out your sprinklers and take your hoses off their spickets (store them in a warm place inside)
4) Ensure the quality of your weather stripping
5) Check the antifreeze and windshield wipers on your car and get your winter tires put on
6) Clean out the gutters
7) Stock up on firewood
8) Put away any lawn furniture and decorations
9) Pull out your snowblower and stock up on shovels
10) Weed your garden and prepare it for the following spring by planting fall bulbs such as tulips and daffodils
