STEAMBOAT SPRINGS- Beginning with yesterday's prologue with celebrity cyclists and VIPs from around the country, The Denver Post Ride The Rockies has begun.

Riders from more than 47 states and representatives from countries all over the world traveled to Breckenridge for the start of the 33rd Ride The Rockies presented by Flexential.

"This was an epic first day of Ride The Rockies. Every rider put their heart and soul into this day and traveled from all over the world to be here. As Colorado's longest cycling tour we made this first day one to remember with two of Colorado's most beautiful and challenging passes to climb," commented Deirdre Moynihan.

Riders departed Breckenridge this morning at 6 am for the first full day of ridding and rode an incredible 77 miles and climbed more than 4,400' in elevation. Crossing over Fremont Pass and Tennessee Pass, riders finished in Edwards, Colorado.
