Center for Visual Arts to Take on the Responsibility of Coordinating The Chief's Calendar of Exhibiting Artists
● Published by Joe Lauber
|Due to the very positive to response to our coordination of artist exhibitions at Harwig’s, Scott Parker from The Chief Theater has asked the CVA to take on the responsibility of coordinating The Chief's calendar of exhibiting artists, with the first booking being for a two-month show September and October. All Chief artist shows will be for two-month blocks. This opportunity is open to all artists in our community.|
If you are a developing artist, a show at The Chief can be a chance to experience for the first time public feedback on a complete body of work. You may want to team up with a partner to create a theme for a show.
Artists will be responsible for hanging their work, creataing labels and writing and submitting a 50-word listing of their show for the Artwalk brochure. If the work is 3D, it needs to be able to mount on the wall. No pedestals or tables. Additionally exhibiting artists at The Chief must provide food for the Artwalk receptions. The Chief provides wine only. More details on administration of the show will be sent to selected artists.
Slots are available as follows:
November/December - booked
Please send Linda Laughlin a simple outline of your proposed show including a few images of your work, number of pieces you will prepare, medium, overall theme, and preferred exhibition month. If you haven’t seen the “Black Box" space at The Chief, please do your research and stop in to look, so that you have a visual on how many pieces it will take to fill the wall space adequately. Deb Babcock currently has a show on display so that will give you a good visual.
Proposals will be considered first come/first serve and consideration will be given to local artists that have never exhibited at The Chief or have not had a show at The Chief in the last 12 months.
Scott and Linda will be reviewing proposals as they arrive, so please respond ASAP if you are interested.
Please feel free to call Linda with questions at 970-846-5970, or contact her via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
