ReTree 2022 – Plant trees to Protect the Yampa

ReTree Community Tree Planting Event Saturday, October 1 & October 8

This year is our 13th annual ReTree community tree planting event, and we have two days to volunteer for this celebrated event: Saturday, October 1 and Saturday, October 8. Come join us and many others for a community-building reforestation event that bolsters Yampa River health and advances climate action for the Yampa Valley.

Though this summer saw more precipitation and higher river flows than recent years' past, river temperatures remained high, which thus underlines the need to continue our efforts to increase tree cover in the riparian zone of the Yampa River to protect it from hotter and drier days ahead. Planting trees along the river is one of the best actions we can take to reduce water temperature. Plus, fast-growing cottonwoods sequester carbon and improve wildlife habitat.

Last year's ReTree helped plant 500 cottonwoods with volunteers ages 3 to 83. All are welcome, it's family friendly and it's a wonderful way come together through actions with impact.
