The fourth annual “Sisters in Steamboat” Weekend promises to deliver fun times once more for all sisters—related or not under the theme of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!" A portion of the registration and proceeds from the weekend will be donated to Steamboat’s local charity, The Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project, to aid women in affording preventive and curative treatment. Keynote speaker Dr. Iversen will share her fight against breast cancer, climb of Mt. Shasta with a slide show, and how to be more aware of the link between environmental health and breast cancer. Women are encouraged to reserve the weekend of October 12 – 14, 2012, and bring biological or kindred sister(s), BFFs, sorority sisters, female relatives, business friends, neighbor friends, and mom for laughs, new experiences, and a chance to spend some quality time together. The weekend kicks off Friday night with another song-themed, welcoming reception called, “I Wear My Sunglasses at Night”. The red carpet will be rolled out for all wearing their Hollywood sunglasses, a toast will be raised in the name of creating memories, tasty bites will be provided, and entertaining activities offered all weekend long. From enrichment workshops and programs including the popular Wiking (short hike to a wine- and chocolate-tasting), creative writing and art classes and cooking demonstrations with sampling allowed—to special deals and discounts offered from Steamboat’s fine retail, dining establishments, and spas, this weekend is only made better by being hosted by a mountain town known for its western hospitality. With nature hikes under the golden aspens and quiet moments spent by one of Steamboat Springs’ many creeks, this mini-vacation will be a picture perfect weekend cherished by all sisters who attend. The weekend’s registration nominal fee includes both parties, admittance to all of the free workshops, and the special sisters’ deals offered by Steamboat’s businesses. Door prizes and giveaways include a New Belgium Fat Tire cruiser bike for some lucky winner.
