Jim Steinberg was the first director of the National Geographic Photography Workshops and has taught for The Center for Natural Photography and Arizona Highways Photo Workshops. His work has been published in National Geographic as well as most other major magazines. His many awards include the Foreword National Book Award for Colorado Scenic Byways (one of the only photographers ever awarded a National Book Award!) and the Colorado Book Award for both Colorado Less Traveled and Colorado Scenic Byways.

While pursuing his passion for photography Jim has traveled more than 2 million miles across the globe. Yet the Yampa Valley is and has been home for more than 40 years and his love for it is reflected in his work and his newest compilation, The Steamboat Collection now available at his gallery at 1016 Oak St. in downtown Steamboat Springs.
