12/29/08 - Drahota Announces Green LEEDers
Drahota’s Derek Cohen, Ed Hurtubis and Brad McDanald earn LEED accreditation

Fort CollinsColo. – December 24, 2008 – Drahota’s Derek Cohen, a project manager, Ed Hurtubis, an assistant project manager in Steamboat and Brad McDanald, an assistant superintendent, have all earned LEED accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is widely recognized as the standard in the design, construction, and operation of green buildings.

LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System. In order to earn LEED Certification through the LEED Rating System, a building must meet the highest green building and performance measures and is then deemed to be environmentally responsible and profitable as well as a healthy place to live and work.

With this accreditation, Cohen, Hurtubis and McDanald and their LEED accredited counterparts at Drahota are not only well educated on green building practices, but they can also efficiently guide Drahota clients who desire to construct buildings that will earn LEED Certification through the challenging and detailed process from start to finish. In addition, simply working with a LEED AP, like these individuals and their colleagues at Drahota, provides one point toward the building’s LEED Certification.

“We want to continue to keep an upper edge on our competition” comments President and CEO Terry Drahota. “Our team feels strongly about doing their share for the environment and by educating our team members about LEED, we can provide a better building experience for our clients.”
