Finding the Doorbell, a one-woman show by up-and-coming comedic sensation Cindy Pierce is coming to Steamboat Mountain Theater on Sunday, March 16. Grab your friends, your spouse, your partner or anyone else who could use a healthy laugh at the triumphs, complexity and absurdity of being a human of the female persuasion. Presented by Tony Award winning producer, Dan Whitten, Finding the Doorbell is a lifetime in the making, and 80 hilarious minutes in the telling. Finding The Doorbell is an analogy to Cindy’s ‘finding’ her sexual hotspot, by accident, during her college years; her performance jumps from hilarious story to funny tale, all too familiar to most people, yet Pierce is fearless in her delivery.
Pierce just released her written adaptation of Finding the Doorbell with co-author Edie Thys Morgan, entitled Finding the Doorbell: Sexual Satisfaction for the Long Haul published by Nomad Press. The book has already received critical acclaim, including the Los Angeles Times:
"Finding the Doorbell gives new life (not to mention a subversive grin) to the phrase 'happily ever after.' Let's face it, you can't be good in bed if you're scared of sex. Pierce and Morgan may have just saved the institution of marriage. There's nothing like it out there — in pill or book form."
Her comedy routine widely heralded in her native New England, here’s what people have had to say…
“Cindy Pierce is blossoming into a cross between Lily Tomlin and Dr. Ruth Westheimer.” - Connecticut Valley Spectator
“Cindy is emerging as one of New England’s funniest comic storytellers, a performer who draws her tales from her life’s various misadventures.” - Vermont Guardian
“This quintessentially New England character makes the task of balancing motherhood, a family business, and professional storytelling entirely entertaining.” – from New England Cable News full length documentary, The Last Laugh: Cindy Pierce
A former athlete, writer, coach and school teacher and current mother, wife and innkeeper in Etna, NH Pierce boldly embraces physical comedy, both in content and delivery. She says, "Growing up the youngest of seven kids provided me with a sex education that combined vague parental input, graphic sisterly insight and a tomboy youth that granted me uncensored access to the male world."
Pierce may have been late to enter womanhood but she made up for lost time by parlaying her insights into an uncanny ability to distill any situation to its funniest common denominator then spin it into a positive message that appeals to men and women, young and old. So take a deep breath and wear clothes with ample room for laughter.
