* Opening reception for the artist's* *Friday, February **1, from 5- 8 pm.*
**
Laura Wait's new work to be featured consists of eight new books,
multiple paintings and prints. This is a unique showing of Wait's artistic
books, which are in some of the most renowned collections in the
world, such as; Library of Congress, Princeton University and the
Denver Public Library. A graduate of Barnard College, New York and the
Croydon
School of Art in England, Wait specializes in intaglio printmaking
and bookbinding. Her work has been exhibited nationally since 1994 and in
2005
was included in the 4th International Book and Paper Arts Triennial in
Chicago.
Ashley Benton's new series *Hipped On *includes her mixed media paintings
and
sculptures. Benton is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design
and
now resides in Steamboat Springs. Her work is a mixture of organic elements
and
textures that beg the viewer to touch them. With titles such as *Don't Be
Offended*
*But I Have To Go,* the work has a whimsical quality but also provides a
view
into the world of human relationships.
The gallery will also be featuring a new series of encaustic panels of
the Yampa Valley by photographer Fred Hodder.
