August's Featured Artists

Below are the three artists for August, 2007.

Sue Gallion
Sue Gallion on her collection for "Canvas, Clay &
Fiber":
"It is great to be able to show my creations
and share my passion for fabric and painting. This
particular collection evolved from a fabric tour in
Hawaii. All the fabrics in this collection were hand
dyed in the sun and dried on the grass.
I waited with anticipation to see what wonderful things
might happen. It was all in the imagination of what
showed up on the fabrics. What a great experience to
transfer the amazing colors into my own rendition of
what they could represent. I am curious to hear what
the viewers might see!"
Sue Gallion will also be showing her original artwear
hats which have taken Steamboat by storm! They are
One-Of-A-Kind original designs, made for outdoor
wear or for your dinner out.

Barb Gregoire
"The pieces I have chosen for this show are an
extension of my relationship with the earth as I take
time to look closer while hiking around rich sandstone
areas.", says Barb.
" My pottery wants to be
touched and felt by those who might appreciate the
unique glaze techniques I create.
As my art evolves, I hope others will take the time to
find the 'giggle' in each piece: the sparkle of mica, the
irony of a pool of ice in desert heat, the voice of a
woodware teapot, crystallized sunshine, hints of
spearmint leaves and the many other extensions of
my creative thoughts!"
Barb invites you to view her pottery with the same
anticipation she feels upon opening the kiln door to
see what the uncertain flames have done to the lumps
of clay she has manipulated!

Mike Tait
"The passion to learn to paint on canvas came to me
looking at the sunsets on Florida beaches with my
wife, " says acrylic painter Mike Tait. "In 1997, we
moved to Colorado and fell in love with its beauty and
its occupants.
"So inspired on a daily basis by sunsets, sunrises,
mountain scenery and wildlife, I was driven to learn to
paint everything. Teaching myself landscape painting
led me to painting other subjects as well. If my
paintings make others happy and are pleasant to the
eye then I feel I've done well.
"I know my art will continue to improve as I know I will
always continue to paint. In this show I have
concentrated mostly of the many activities of the local
area of Steamboat Springs, CO."
