Steamboat Springs, Colorado. – July 13, 2007. ResortQuest Steamboat, the lodging sponsor of the Steamboat Wine Festival, announces a private wine tasting exclusively for their guests at the Torian Plum and Trappeur’s Crossing Resort, August 2, 4-6pm.

In its fourth year, The Steamboat Wine Festival, August 2-5, 2007, is fast becoming one of Colorado’s most popular summer events, attracting nearly 2,500 attendees, over 100 international and domestic wineries and top-notch chefs from around the nation. This celebration of culinary delights, wine tastings, outdoor activities, arts and entertainment offers visitors to Steamboat Springs the opportunity to sniff, swirl and sip their way through a glorious summer weekend.

Some of the festival’s signature events include an Opening Reception at the top of Thunderhead and a Grand Tasting on the Torian Plum lawns at the base of the Steamboat Ski Area with live entertainment and a Steel Chef Competition. Attendees can stroll down Steamboat’s main street and throughout downtown while sampling more than 250 wines and an array of culinary delights as part of the Stroll of Steamboat. Plus, with a comprehensive seminar program featuring some of the world’s greatest wine experts, an all-star celebrity chef line-up, vintner dinners and much more, the 2007 Steamboat Wine Festival is a can’t-miss weekend.
This year, the Steamboat Wine Festival is excited to welcome two of the most popular chefs from the mega-hit reality series “Top Chef” to this year’s event. During its first season, Stephen Asprinio and Dave Martin became two of the most-followed stars of the show and successfully established themselves as dynamic, key players in the culinary world.
Dave Martin, “Chef Dave,” has won the hearts and palates of millions of people worldwide with his approachable yet sophisticated take on old classics like his signature Black Truffle Mac ‘n’ Cheese. After an appearance on “The Today Show” (aired May 18, 2006), Martin had officially secured his place on the A-list of celebrity chefs. Not only has Martin been spotted on the Red Carpet with Charlize Theron, Russell Simmons, Ivanka Trump and Rachel Bilson, he has also cooked for celebrity celebrations like Mary Kate and Ashley Olson’s 20th birthday party.
Stephan Asprinio is both an established Sommelier and esteemed chef, and has become an influential member of the hospitality industry. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America and apprenticing under Iron Chef Masuhara Morimoto at Nobu in New York City, Asprinio went on to earn his degree in Hotel Administration from Cornell University. As a certified Sommelier, Asprinio has worked as Wine Director for NobHill at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and as head Sommelier at Caesar’s Palace, and believes that his vast knowledge of wines makes him a more valuable chef. Stephen will be setting down his knife to pick up a shaker and join the rest of our master mixologists during the “Your Signature Cocktail” seminar.
To commence the festivities, ResortQuest is inviting their Torian Plum and Trappeur’s Crossing Resort guests to an intimate, private wine tasting, featuring artisan cheeses provided by Steamboat’s renowned Vidalia Market. These wine tastings are complimentary and coupled with special Steamboat Wine Festival lodging rates, starting at $159 per night.
