STEAMBOAT SPRINGS– Kickflips, heelflips and ollies…hard to pull off, but gratifying once you nail them. While each of us has our own talents, only a select group of individuals has the  courage to perform when standing on the edge of a halfpipe.

Yearly, skateboarders across the world join in celebrating Go Skateboarding Day, on June 21. Steamboat Springs is celebrating in true fashion at Bear River Skatepark.

“You can look forward to burgers, music, prizes, giveaways, lots of laughs and a ton of skating,” says Sheldon Sickles, local skater and Urbane employee. “There are a lot of good friends out there; it’s a lot of fun and it’s all for the community.”

The Bear River Skatepark sits in a beautiful location next to the Yampa River and arguably houses what is arguably one of the best skate bowls in the state.

“This town has a bunch of really talented skateboarders,” Sickles says. “I’m stoked to see how much the skateboard community has grown in the last few years, and how many new faces we will get to see down at the skatepark.”

Go Skateboarding Day in Steamboat Springs is sponsored by Urbane, Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, Back Door Grill and the Steamboat Sk8 Church. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/1857441520986328/?active_tab=about
