STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-February 21, 2015-Mother Nature didn’t sleep in this morning in Steamboat-Ski Town USA® waking up everyone with a foot of fresh Champagne Powder® snow in the past 24 hours and it’s still snowing. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6am Sunday which will add to the more than 3.5 feet of snow that has piled up during February.
“Steamboat continues to enjoy some of the best conditions in Colorado and is serving up 100% of the mountain for guests,” commented Diamond.  “With a foot overnight and forecasts calling for up to another foot of snow by tomorrow, Steamboat is definitely showing why it is the home of Champagne Powder® snow and the place to be for powder skiing and riding right now.”
Since February 1, the resort has enjoyed 42.5 inches at mid-mountain and 43.5 inches at the summit, including 11 inches and 13 inches overnight respectively.  With 100% of the resort’s terrain open, Steamboat is reporting a 58-inch base at mid-mountain and 69-inch base at the summit. This season, Steamboat has been blanketed by more than 15 feet of snow at mid-mountain and more than 16 feet at the summit since October 1.
With a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 6am Sunday morning, the National Weather Service is calling for periods of snow over the northern mountains in western Colorado. A slight change of snow is forecasted to arrive Wednesday, before the next round of snow arrives for the last weekend of February.

Snowfall was showery and convective on Friday and is expected to be the same throughout the day on Saturday with generally light snow, including localized bursts of high precipitation rates.  With the new snow, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center avalanche rating is currently CONSIDERABLE (Level 3) for the Steamboat Zone. The avalanche rating will increase rapidly through the weekend as the storm snow accumulates moving to HIGH (Level 4) tomorrow.

In addition to serving up heaps of Champagne Powder® snow throughout February, the resort is offering the Sun & Snow Package for avid powder lovers including 20% or more savings on three or more days of lodging and lifts.
