The 280-ft lower Fish Creek Falls are impressive, but continue hiking up past them to reach Upper Fish Creek Falls, another scenic waterfall with bubbling pools and views of the Yampa Valley. The perfect spot for a picnic and cool dip in the water.

It’s a local rite of passage to cross the Devil’s Causeway, a 4-foot-wide 300-foot-long land bridge with 1,000-foot cliffs on either side. If you don’t have the guts to cross it, the 6-mile round-trip hike is still the perfect chance to eye wildflowers and unique rock formations.

This meandering trail takes you through pine forests and wide open meadows, past creeks and to the historic Mad Creek Barn. Options are abound from the Mad Creek trailhead, where you can hike Mad Creek, complete the challenging Red Dirt Loop or hike a few miles up to Strawberry Park Hot Springs for a relaxing soak.
