Q. What are some of your favorite runs in Steamboat?
A. I can always enjoy the Chutes on a good pow day.

Q. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
A. I have received a lot of helpful advice so this is difficult. But I would say that learning how to go my own way in life has been very beneficial.

Q. How do you like to relax?
A. My wife and I live in Moscow, which isn’t the most relaxing place, so usually when we feel the need we fly somewhere warm and away from the cities.

Q. What are some of your favorite things about living and training in Russia?
A. Moscow has some advantages, as there is always something interesting to do. I have never lived in a big city before, so it’s been a good experience to learn how to live in such a different environment.

Q. What’s on your warm-up playlist?
A. Usually I listen to podcasts and try to keep the music mellow before events.

Q. What’s your favorite career moment so far?
A. Probably my first World Cup podium. I hadn’t been allowed to race the previous season, and my first World Cup back I was third. It validated everything I had worked for when I chose to stop competing for the United States.

Q. What does a typical day of training look like for you?
A. When I am in Moscow I am a bit of a gym rat. There isn’t a lot I can do outside, so I end up spending most of my energy indoors. I can usually only handle a few weeks before I need a change of pace. When we are on snow in Europe we train a lot on and off snow. It is definitely tiring, but I enjoy the work.

Q.
What’s your favorite thing about the sport?

A. Probably being behind in a head-to-head race and slowly reeling in an opponent.

Q.
What’s your favorite junk food?

A. At my favorite cafe in Moscow they have Napoleon cake. It’s delicious.

Q. Which three words describe you best?
A. My wife says I am a “little bit selfish, but motivated and handsome.”

Q. What would you do if you won the lottery?
A. Be stoked that I could choose what I wanted to do after snowboarding

Q. What is your favorite memory made in Steamboat?
A. When I look back, I feel really fortunate that the SSWSC existed. Through that organization I met some of the most influential people in my life. Those relationships are what stick with me and what come to mind when I think of Steamboat.
